Internship
In August 2016 I started my internship at the Danish jewellery company Hvisk.
During my internship I participated full time as part of the design team. The major elements of my
work tasks were to be researching jewellery trends and designs, jewellery ideation and design,
creating spec sheets of finished designs and drawing jewellery in 3D using the 2D spec sheets
created by myself or other members of the design team.

The purpose of this internship was to gain an insight and working knowledge of how it is to work
within the commercial jewellery field as a jewellery designer specialising in 3D; how this particular
company goes from idea to finished designs, how they manage prototyping, the procedures
involved in quality checking prototypes and inventory, how to work within a jewellery design team
and the expected skill levels required to fulfil the given tasks.

The knowledge I gained from this internship could only have been acquired by working in the field
for an established company and experiencing that you can never fully prepare yourself for every
task, but that you have to apply the skills and knowledge you already have to find a creative way
of solving each problem.

At the end of my internship I was offered a permanent position in Hvisk's design team and I was happy to stay on.
